Tim K. Murphy wrote:

Dear Sir,

For the past hour, I have exhaustively searched among many Catholic and non-Catholic search engines and web sites for the text of the Act of Pardon made by John Paul II on March 12, 2000 — to no avail.

I would, of course, still like to see the fruits of my labor rewarded.

  • Can you provide the text of the Act of Pardon?

Tim

  { Can you help me find the Act of Pardon made by Pope St. John Paul II in March of 2000? }

Mike replied:

Hi, Tim —

See the (JPG) and (BMP) attachments. I believe this is what you are looking for.

To set it as your PC Wallpaper:

  • Just dump the BMP in your windows directory
  • Right click on an empty area on your desktop and choose:

Properties

then go to the Desktop tab and select the appropriate (graphic or picture),
or . . .

Click on one of the above graphics (JPG or BMP) and right click on the picture then choose:

    Set as Background

It makes a great desktop background. In the display properties, I set mine to Center.

You'll surprise your Jewish friends. I've typed out the text of the Pardon below.

Mike

God of our fathers,
you chose Abraham and his descendants
to bring your Name to the Nations:
we are deeply saddened
by the behaviour of those
who in the course of history
have caused these children of yours to suffer,
and asking your forgiveness
we wish to commit ourselves
to genuine brotherhood
with the people of the Covenant.

Jerusalem, 26 March 2000

Act of Pardon with the Signature of Pope John Paul II
